Deanna is a Miami-raised attorney and journalist.

Deanna has a national trial and litigation practice in highly visible matters, often involving white collar defense, government investigations, media law, and complex civil litigation. Deanna served for six years as an assistant district attorney in New York City, prosecuting child homicides, felony sex crimes, and cases of domestic violence. She has tried more than two dozen cases to verdict in federal and state court.

Previously, Deanna was a legal affairs correspondent for the Wall Street Journal and a national and breaking news reporter for the Washington Post. She was part of The Post team that was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting, and has received multiple journalism honors, including for her reporting in the wake of the ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade and the 2022 New York Press Club Award for political reporting. Deanna has previously taught trial advocacy at Fordham Law School and currently teaches media law at Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism.
